Extension Events
These are direct spinoff and collaborative programs of the VIGA Music Awards and are intended to showcase the Awards winning songs and artists. Some are regular, and others come off spontaneously as need may arise. Within these events we incorporate talent identification & empowerment, professional mentorship & skilling, spiritual edification, and celebrating lifetime achievements.
Gospo Kikadde
This is a concert that is headlined by the respective recipient of the VIGA Gospel Legends Award. It features and honors the ministers with enduring impact, those who have selflessly shared messages of faith, hope, and love over time. This annual tribute celebrates the rich heritage of gospel music and the artists leaving an indelible mark that continues to transform lives to the glory of God.

Gospo Unplugged
A regular monthly intimate showcase and capacity-building program for the VIGA Music Awards winners and emerging creatives. The program is executed in collaboration with the Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC) at the National Theatre and has spontaneous Church activations.
Gospo Unplugged supports the growth of artists, providing a platform for networking, skill-building, professional mentorship, and spiritual enrichment.
NextGeM
The NextGeM (Next Generation Mi-Artist) is a church-based Talent Search Competition and Empowerment agenda combining talent development and spiritual growth. NextGeM nurtures the Mi-Artists, the next generation gospel artists including singers, musicians, actors, and choreographers, among others. It targets raw talents that have never recorded a song and/or young upcoming artists who haven’t had a breakthrough. Mi-Artist is a coined acronym for Minister-Artist, to define Christian Artists as we appreciate to call them at VIGA. NextGeM equips them to exploit ‘The Commercial’ element without losing the core of ‘The Ministry’.
Aims and Objectives
- To spot and empower budding creatives in the church and create Minister-Artists (Mi-Artists), a creatives generation that appreciates Christian/Gospel music as Ministry and source of livelihood.
- To engage artists and stakeholders in dialogue and mentorship that will cause mind sent adjustment to appreciate the possibility of the Christian ‘Mindustry’, ministry and industry.
- Involve Church Leaders in mentoring effective agents of change and creating the right eco-system for the Mi-Artists and to empower them for the role Executive Producer of the talents in their confines.
- Cause employment through professionalizing and structuring the Christian Creative Industry accordingly, hence enhanced incomes for artists and the church
Methodology
- The search is conducted from local church level, to regional, to national level feeding into the VIGA Music Awards’ New Upcoming Artist’ Category.
- Messages are run calling for registrations on our website, media and at selected physical places i.e., churches.
- The interested participants are required to pick, fill, and return an application form with endorsement of their spiritual leader or local church priest,
- In the initial stage, participants will be mentored about church impact and relevance to artists, and censored on their ability to sing, dance and/or express some kind of art.
- In the second stage we ascertain authenticity, as participants present their original composition.
- In the final stage, participants are weighed on their ability to work within the ‘eco-system’ and present marketable performance or crafts i.e., musicians perform accompanied with a live band and the top acts receive an audio and video recording for their song and are presented as nominees in the VIGA Music Awards New artist of the year category,
- Up to 250 participants will be targeted annually for every region i.e., Eastern, Western, Northern and Buganda, making 1000 participants for the first round. These will be censored to leave the top ten, 5 girls and 5 boys going to the 2nd round.
